Pride Radio has a brand new home at the ONE Centre in Gateshead, as the North East’s new LGBTQ+ community hub officially opened its doors this week.
The launch day came with an incredible boost too, with more than £330,000 awarded from the National Lottery Community Fund to help support the centre’s future work.
The ONE Centre, based at the Stonehills Complex, welcomed community groups, local leaders and invited guests for its official opening by Kate Osborne MP, timed perfectly with the start of LGBTQ+ History Month.
The celebration also unveiled a striking new artwork by North East artist Chris Felming (Ida4), honouring influential LGBTQ+ figures, with a fourth panel to be shaped by the community.
Created through extensive renovations, the centre offers space for counselling, workshops, training, drop-ins, hot desking and events, alongside brand new broadcast and podcast studios as the home of Pride Radio.
