This event is open to everyone who wants to learn more about the social history of HIV and AIDS, with a particular focus on the UK context.
Through an engaging and accessible talk, we will explore the emergence of HIV and AIDS in the 1980s and 1990s, how stigma and misinformation shaped public attitudes, and the profound impact on LGBTQI+ communities. The session will examine responses from activists, healthcare professionals, the media, and government, and reflect on how far we have come, and where stigma still remains today.
Whether you are attending as part of LGBTQI+ History Month or simply want to deepen your understanding of this important social history, you are very welcome to join us.
