We are so excited to be bringing Pride Radio to DAB across North & South Tyneside from Friday 10th December at 7AM. Make sure you join us for a week of fun and giveaways

Pride Radio will launch a new DAB radio station on Friday 10 December, live from the Pride of the Tyne Shields Ferry.

Presenters Kelly Scott and Ophelia B will be presenting live from 8am-10am, to celebrate the DAB channel launching in North and South Tyneside.

Pride Radio, based in the Pride Media Centre in Pelaw, have been operating for more than 10 years and have built a huge audience with the LGBTQ+ community and their allies.

Station Director Richard Kell said: “We have listeners around the world, but our local audience is still very important to us.

“We’re launching on DAB in North and South Shields and what better way to celebrate that than on the Shields Ferry which travels between the two? We were delighted when Nexus said we could broadcast from on board, we’ve never hosted a live breakfast show from a boat before so it should be really fun.”

Pride Radio can be found on 89.2FM and will be available on DAB in North and South Tyneside from Friday. They were recently named UK Community Radio Station of the Year, beating 400 other stations. They are the first LGBTQ+ network to receive the honour.

Carol Timlin, Ferry Manager at Nexus, said: “We’re looking forward to hosting Pride Radio on the Pride of the Tyne, it’s the perfect pairing and an ideal way for the radio station to reach people in North and South Tyneside.”

The Shields Ferry operates a frequent and fast service between North and South Shields, with a journey time of just seven minutes and a regular 30 minute frequency from both sides of the river.
